Seminar for the Communication Directors of Signis Agra Region

SIGNIS Agra organized one day seminar for the Communication directors of the region at Nav Sadhana, Varanasi on 13th of August, 2013.  Most Rev. Raphy Manjaly, the bishop of Varanasi diocese and the President of Agra Region for the Social Communication was the chief guest for the seminar. Fr. V. Sebastian, the director of Nav Sadhana welcomed all the participants and briefed about the resource person Mr. Sisir Basu professor at BHU in Varanasi.

DSC_0743DSC_0762After the welcome note, Most Rev. Raphy Manjaly, gave inaugural address and said that the Church is described as mother and teacher and mother knows the best. The Chuch is aware of the power of media which is reflected in the communication decree of Vat II Inter Mirifica.

The resource person Mr. Sisir Basu emphasized the power of media and said that the church is in dire need of re-organizing and re- structuring to relate to the people, society and media. He also said that we need to understand the new generation and relate to them in their own way. At the end of the session Fr. Jacob Palamattam proposed a vote of thanks.

 DSC_0724The SIGNIS business meeting was held in the afternoon. Fr. Norbert Herman SVD the National Secretary of Signis India chaired the session. Fr. Anand Mathew IMS, the secretary briefed about the financial report and the activities of the Region. There was an election of the president and Fr. V. Sebastian, the director of Nav Sadhana was unanimously elected as President of SIGNIS Agra Region. The directors from Varanasi, Jhansi, Allahabad, Meerat, Agra, Udaipur, Gorakpur, Mirzapur, and many other congregation representatives were present for the meeting.   At the end Fr. Anthony Swamy SVD proposed a vote of thanks for all the participants.
