Udaipur, 18 December 2013 ‚Sarvdharm Maitri Sangh, organized Inter — Religious Peace Rally to mark Christmas on 18 December at 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm. Fr. Norbert Herman SVD the director of Sarvdharm Maitri Sangh welcomed all distinguished guests and people from various religions and institutions.
The peace rally was flagged off from Maitri Sadan, Patel Circle by the chief guest honorable Mayor Rajani Dangi. Speaking on the occasion Mayor acknowledged that every individual in the society wants to experience peace irrespective of religion, sect or caste. She emphasized the need for global harmony as the need of the hour.
Starting from Sarvadharm Maitri Sadan, Patel Circle, the rally took the main routs of the city, Udai Pole, Suraj Pole, Bank Chouraha, Delhi Gate, Hathi Pole, Chetak, Lok Kala Mandal and finally culminated in Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral, Bhupalpura.
The peace rally was well received by the followers of different religion with their heads. Mahant Rasbihari Sharanashastri, Sthal Mandir from Hindu Community, Mr. Rajkumar Faktavat from Jain Community, Devendra Pahuwa from Sikh Community, Anis Bohra from Bohra Community, Fr. Remison from CNI Church and Rev. Bishop Devprasad Ganava SVD and bishop Joseph Pathalil addressed the rally. The main theme of their message was to spread peace and harmony among all.
The main attractions of the rally were the students dressed as Bharatmata and Santa Clause distributing sweets, Live Crib with Rajasthani shepherds and angels, Christmas tree, Vande mataram by “ruh band” and peace song by St. Teresa School, Pushpagiri, placards of peace from St. Mary school Titardi, Messages of different religions, peace prayer of St. Francis of Assisi etc. which attracted the people. Mr. Mushtaq Chanchal and Abha Sirsikar anchored the program and Sandeep Singhatwadia, president of Sarvadharm Maitri Sangh proposed the vote of thanks. There were 25 jhankies and about three thousand people marching in the rally.
